Specialist and Rare Type Budgerigar Breeder
About our Birds and GWA
Here at GWA we care for all different types of Budgerigar, from Texas Clear Bodies, to Japanese Crested Hagaromos. From distinct pieds to beautiful rainbows. We have a large variety and sure to have the bird(s) you dream of owning
Our birds are currently housed in a bespoke birdroom at the end of the garden with large internal flight which is fully insulated and ventilated with fan extraction as well internal dust extractors. The birdroom is also fully heated through a diesel heater which has been carefully installed to ensure the birds are completely safe.
All our birds are treated and prevented from catching worms and mites using Exzolt, Moxidectin or S76 and supplemented with Ivermectin when needed. We use the HAITHS UKBC seed mix for the best nurtition.
Originally an aviary, which took approximately 6 months to build, was completed in April 2018. Yet we continue to change and improve on it every weekend. Built from scratch following our own, very specific, instruction; the aviary could "withstand a hurricane" (although hopefully it will never need to!)
Back in 2021, the Aviary was dismantled and almost entirely rebuilt, transferring it into an internal bird room with specific designs for optimum breeding conditions. We now have 20 breeding cages, a large flight, 4 nurseries and lots more
The bird room is raised off the ground to ensure optimal ventilation around the entire aviary, easy water extraction and an excellent way for our cats to ensure no rodents get near the birds
The base of the birdroom is fully lined with 1/2X1/2 aviary wire before decked with water resistant OSB3 board. This is then covered with 9mm ply, given a water proof coating and raised at the edges to allow a central drain. We then have a nice layer of Easi-chick substrate.
Internal flights are fully insulated with 50mm Celotex to ensure the heat stays out in the summer, but warm in during the winter.
